Parts Europe is one of the world’s largest distributors of the THOR motocross brand. Though THOR Motocross is now legendary among riders, many fans are surprised to learn just how influential the brand has been in the development of the motocross clothing throughout history.
Here in this article, we bring you back in time to 1968, when THOR MX first came into being from the trunk of Torsten Hallman’s car. Then, we fast forward to 2020, with the release of yet another impressive and timeless collection of motocross and supercross gear from the company.

First things, first – what does “THOR” stand for?
➡️ Torsten Hallman Original Racewear.
Torsten Hallman was one of the most influential riders in motocross history — credited for helping to bring the sport of motocross from Europe to the United States. The native-Swede Hallman was already well-known in Europe as a superstar rider, even before making his way across the Atlantic.
At the time, motocross in the U.S. was barely on the radar – and certainly was not near as popular and worshipped as it is today.
Hallman first came to the U.S. at the behest of Edison Dye, a successful Husqvarna motorcycle importer. Dye began enticing European riders to the American scene with the dream of popularizing both the sport – and his bikes – in the emerging market.
Several European riders were imported through Dye, including Malcom Smith, Joel Robert, and Lars Larsson. But Hallman immediately stood out as in a league of his own, quickly becoming unbeatable and a fan (and media) favorite.

Throughout his races, it became apparent to Hallman that the motocross gear of the American riders was not as protective or durable as the European gear he was used to. It was with this thought in mind that Hallman and his partner Dye began importing European gear into the U.S. market.
Hallman started selling the motocross gloves and pants from the trunk of his car during races. From these humble beginnings, THOR Motocross developed into one of the world’s most iconic and trusted motocross brands.
In 2000, Hallman and his partner, Husqvarna importer Edison Dye, were both inducted into the AMA’s Hall of Fame.
